Granada, San Juan Del Sur, Sunday Funday Gallery

Grenada, San Juan Del Sur and Sunday Funday.  Two things we liked and one we really didn’t.  Grenada was ok, with it’s colonial architecture and beach area, however there is no way I would ever get into the water in Lake Nicaragua, and the city was dirty, seedy and congested.  San Juan Del Sur however was the antithesis.  It was clean, the beach was great, and the city was not congested and relaxed.  Sunday Funday is every Sunday in San Juan Del Sur where the Naked Tiger Hostel and Pacha Mama Hostel have joined together to have a Pool Crawl.  It starts downtown in a pool, then they shuttle people up to the awesome Naked Tiger Hostel Pool, then the Arribas Bar downtown again.  It’s all day of partying, DJs and fun!

We walked around the walking street in Granada and we weren’t impressed with the over commercialized restaurants and over priced eateries.  The street food was commercial too, and there was a general sense of seediness in the downtown area.  We decided not to spend any time there and headed down to San Juan Del Sur the next day after the lack luster breakfast at our hotel near the lake.  We made good time and in Rivas, ate at Burger King which ended up giving us stomache problems.  Maybe it was the terrible hamburger in Granada we ate.

We arrived in San Juan Del Sur and jumped a wall to participate illegally in the Sunday Funday Pool Crawl.  We really only spend the time at the one pool and didn’t go to Naked Tiger, however, it was fun to people watch and hang out.    Check out the Full Post
