Leon to Granada, Nicaragua Gallery

Nicaragua is incredible!  The people are warm and so are the temperatures.  We had spent the night in the Leon area at Las Penitas on the beach where it was cooler.  We woke to 90 degree temperatures and knew we had to go from Leon to Granada this day.

We had breakfast at Las Rocas in Las Penitas before heading out of the area 0f Leon to Granada, Nicaragua. We wanted to stop off and see a volcano called Chiltepe which is in Lake Managua.  We swam and bathed in the crater lake with temperatures in the high nineties.  The water was cool and refreshing and clean.  We loved it!  Getting to the lake crater was a little bit of a hassle. We went down this dirt road, potholed and closed off in places and after we were done at the lake, we realized there was a much shorter paved road around the other side.  I guess this is the stuff you learn through trial and error.  So remember there are two ways to get there!  ðŸ™‚  If you missed the original post, you can find it HERE.

The pictures certainly don’t do justice to the beauty of this place.  We feel lucky to have stumbled upon it, and hope to someday go back to visit and maybe camp by the shores for a few weeks.  So the next time you are on your way from Leon to Granada, stop by Chiltepe and take a dip!  Enjoy the photo gallery and don’t forget to subscribe to the blog!
