Here we are a few days from embarking on our trip of a lifetime to Central America. It will be Shelly's first time out of North America and a real adventure for the both of us. We have been working as nurses in San Diego and I personally got to the point that I was not feeling very good about life. I was in short... getting depressed. I needed a change and travel was my answer. I figured that if I can get out and experience something different, I might be able to get a different perspective on life.
My life was good..... no great. However, when your life becomes stagnant, you sometimes get depressed with the regularity. This was my case. I spoke to my work about this and they gave me 6 weeks of "mental health leave". We decided to spend most of it traveling around Central America.
We dropped Buddha our dog off at a friends and headed out of Oceanside on a train for San Diego's Airport where we were going to fly to Ohio and visit family. Both of our families live there and we spent a few days there hanging out and getting ready to fly from Ohio to Cancun, Mexico on Air Tran airlines. We got an incredible deal of $250 dollars each and were beyond excited to begin our trip.
After a lot of planning, research, and money, we have reached the beginning of an adventure. Keep checking in, we will be updating this board as much as possible to keep everyone informed on where we are and have been. Incidentally we will use this blog to keep you all informed of what we're doing and how we are doing.
We will post pictures and stories as we are able (not sure the internet situation down there) We will try and keep this updated as much as we can. ENJOY!!!!
