Shelly and I made it to Cancun! It was a great flight both from Ohio to Atlanta, and from Atlanta to Cancun. Total trip time was 3 .5 - 4 hours. We luckily had the 3 seats to ourselves and were able to sleep. We didn't get much sleep on Monday night before leaving. I didn't get any, and Shelly slept for a couple hours.
Flamingo Cancun Resort
Arriving in Cancun
We got to the airport, passed immigration, and the customs check, and went to National Renta-Car to get a vehicle. We picked up a some compact hatchback with a manual transmission, and spent an hour or two just driving around seeing what they call the Zona Hotelera. Bet you can figure out what that means. It's a bunch of resorts and we finally picked the Flamingo Cancun Resort right on the water.
We got settled in our room, and somehow we got upgraded to the first floor of an ocean view. YEAH!!!! We can walk out our patio, and right down to the beach. IT IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE HERE!
The Cancun Beaches
The Amazing Beaches of Cancun
WOW!! the color of the ocean is almost indescribable. It's a deep blue, to a pale aqua marine, to the softest most powdery tan beaches I have seen. We went down into the water and swam a bit, in the near 80 degree water. We have nowhere to be and in no time frame. When was the last time you could say that? I was completely on an adrenaline high of being in Mexico, so sleep didn't catch up with me until we had eaten at Outback Steakhouse in Cancun and we decided to head to our hotel and get a nap.
We may go out tonight to a discotec tonight, it is spring break down here! And it would be a shame to spend our first night indoors in our hotel room. We will update as we can! And we haven't found a prepaid phone to buy yet. So no way to contact us right now, unless you want to call the Flamingo Resort in Cancun. We are in room 220. 🙂 We don't know if we are going to spend another day here or move on tomorrow. I guess we will figure that out tomorrow! That is the most amazing thing!
Clubbing at The City for Spring Break
Spring Break in Cancun
The club we went to was called "The City". It is a 4 level stadium sized club that holds 7000 people. YES 7000!!! Spring break was in full swing with spring breakers from all over the world and there were at least 7000 people there. It was overly crowded, but we still danced a lot and enjoyed our time there. We met some girls from Venezuela and hung out with them most of the night. We were out all night and got back to the Flamingo in the early hours of the morning.
Change in Perspective
This is quite possibly the largest change in perspective that we have ever had. Starting what has in retrospect (This Change in Perspective was written years after this trip) the catalyst for change and the start of something we couldn't have ever imagined, has changed our lives forever and it started here in Cancun, Mexico. This is the reality. You too can change your life. You don't know how it will end and it starts with a beginning. This was the beginning for us and the end hasn't been written. The journey however is now indefinite and has been the biggest change in our life, perspective, well being, and love for eachother than anything else has in our lives.
